Adoption

YROC is based in Salisbury, NC. We  usually adopt our dogs to families who reside in NC or SC . However, all rescue/foster/adoptions are unique. In certain circumstances, we do make exceptions for homes that rise above our typical criteria for adoption and are also willing to make the trip to meet and pick up. We do not under any circumstances ship our dogs.

A home visit is required, however, it is not always feasible. Therefore all applicants are required to submit photos of the main living area, pet's sleeping and feeding areas, front and back yard, as well as all people and pets who reside in the home. The application will not be considered without photos. Once you complete the application, please email photos to YorkieROC@gmail.com 

 

We WILL DO A VET CHECK. This ensures us that your current pets are up-to-date on vaccinations, are spayed/neutered (we will not place one of our dogs in a home where there is another intact animal).

*PLEASE CALL YOUR VET AND GIVE PERMISSION FOR THEM TO SHARE INFO WITH YORKIE RESCUE OF THE CAROLINAS.

 

If you do not have a vet, you will need to select one and provide their contact information on your application.

*Please read and answer each question on the application completely. Incomplete applications and/or applications without completed vet information will not be considered.

 

Yorkie Rescue of the Carolinas will rarely place Yorkies in homes with children under 12 years old. However, some of the larger dogs we get in may do well with children. If the dog is larger and young enough to adjust or was raised with kids previously we may make an exception and consider placing in a home with younger children. Our foremost concern is for the safety of our rescues, but also your human child's safety as well.

For the safety and well-being of our pups, homes with fenced yards are preferred.

Applicants must be at least 25 years old to be considered. Dog ownership can become a challenge for young people who are not well established in their home or job. We are not insinuating that young adults are not good pet owners. It's just that many of our rescued Yorkies come from horrific situations and have very specific needs. It takes a quiet, stable, and established household for them to thrive.

We review each adoption application in the order received and choose the family that best suits the needs of each individual dog. ***Our rescue is run 100% by volunteers who work full time jobs and do this in their spare time*** If we have a pup that is a good fit for you we will contact you.

We do not have the resources to respond to each application. Please make sure to answer all questions completely and submit all requested photos. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

We will keep your application on file. It may take weeks or months before we get a pup in that is a good match for you. 

Our goal is to match each pup to his or her forever home as best we can.  

 

Adoption fees typically range from $250-$600 and will vary depending on factors including dog's age, breed, veterinary costs and/or presence of medical issues,
